Friend,
Each year, we produce our Year in Hate and Extremism report, an annual analysis and census of hate groups and extremism organizations in America. The report is not just an academic exercise; it's always our goal to influence those with the power to make real change.

That's why we're so thrilled to share a new video series featuring eight members of Congress praising the Year in Hate report for its unique insights into hate and extremism in our nation. The report, they say, helps inform policy changes they are seeking to combat the threat posed by hate groups, especially far-right extremists who were energized and emboldened by the Trump presidency.

"Though the days of flagrant cross burnings and Klan rallies may be behind us, bigotry and racism are not," said Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, one of the participants in the video series. "To excise these evils from America once and for all, we must recognize and understand how they take shape today. That is exactly what the SPLC's Year in Hate report really forces us to do: to track and monitor active hate groups, whether they're plotting insurrections, vandalizing places of worship or committing other acts of extremism."

Sen. Durbin is joined in the video series by his Senate colleague Jon Ossoff as well as six members of the House of Representatives: Ayanna Pressley, Veronica Escobar, Rosa DeLauro, Judy Chu, Jamie Raskin and Jackie Speier.

We're honored to continue the fight against hate and extremism with these members of Congress - and alongside supporters like you. Thank you.
In solidarity,
Your friends at the Southern Poverty Law Center
