Dear John,

As Max writes in his email below — we now have an incredible opportunity to pass much-needed drug pricing reforms in Congress! But to win we’ve got to take on powerful and influential drug manufacturers, many of whom have the ear of lawmakers in Congress.

The majority of Americans want to empower Medicare to negotiate with drug companies for lower prescription drugs prices. Please help the National Committee wage this fight for the future of drug prices and Medicare in America by making one urgent donation of $10 or $5 today! No other organization works harder to protect Americans’ retirement and health security — and we do it all without taking one penny from the government or corporations.

Dear John,

Remember when President Trump accused drug manufacturers of “getting away with murder?” That hasn’t changed. Big drug companies continue to charge consumers whatever they want for the lifesaving drugs they need …

But now there is growing momentum in Congress and the Biden Administration for constraining Big Pharma’s power to slap $1,000+ prices on a single pill.

That’s why the National Committee is putting maximum pressure on Republicans and Democrats alike to get behind the “Lower Drug Costs Now Act,” which will allow Medicare to negotiate with drug companies for lower drug costs (currently it’s forbidden to do so). It is estimated that empowering Medicare to negotiate costs will save up to $450 billion over ten years!

Big pharmaceutical corporations and their powerful, well-paid army of lobbyists are gearing up for a massive offensive against this renewed legislative effort to pass drug pricing reforms. Incredibly, in 2020 alone, the pharmaceutical and health industries spent more than $206 million on lobbying.

Make no mistake, these corporate lobbyists are twisting arms on Capitol Hill to try and kill this important bill.

Yet, 86% of the public support allowing the government to negotiate drug prices for Medicare, according to a 2019 Kaiser Health survey. And this support cuts across party lines, including 90% of Democrats and 80% of Republicans.

So please give what you can today to help us ramp up our campaign to pass the “Lower Drug Costs Now Act.” As our past victories have shown when National Committee members and supporters rally together for a cause they care about Congress will listen!

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
President & CEO
