John, Today, the For the People Act is headed to the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration for a markup of the bill. As this bill moves through the Senate, we continue to see state legislatures and lawmakers across the country propose and pass laws that will limit accessibility to the ballot box. Just this week, a bill was proposed in Arizona that would remove more than 100,000 Arizonans from the vote by mail list -- this burden will fall disproportionately on people of color and young people. We need the For the People Act -- and we need your help to get it passed in the Senate. Here’s a quick explainer on what it means for the bill when it’s in markup and how you can take action: What is the For the People Act again? Why does it matter? The progress we need to make on civil rights, income inequality, gender equity -- every issue we face today as a nation -- starts with equality at the ballot box. The future of our democracy depends on us taking action together right now to support this legislation. What is a markup? What happens when a bill is in markup? What can I do to show my support for the For the People Act while it’s in markup to help it get to the floor for a vote? Thanks for being a part of our team -- we couldn’t do this without you.
