As we prepare to enter a third school year impacted by COVID-19, we are beginning to tentatively return to our previous habits and practices. However, we all know that our lives have been forever changed by the events of the last two years. As we plan for a new school year, what have we learned? What new practices will continue? In the last 10 years, the number of Hispanic Serving Institutions has grown by 93 percent, increasing from 230 to 539. This growth tracks with the increase of the overall Latinx population in the United States, in turn fueling greater rates of matriculation in higher education. In the wake of the 2020 election, where Latinx community members wrestled with articulating the nuanced differences within Latinidad, public calls to acknowledge the rich and diverse backgrounds that comprise Latinx communities have swelled. In this webinar, hear from Latinx practitioners, funders, and higher education professionals as they explore the nuances of Latinx identity through a higher education lens.

Research has shown that the partisan divide in the United States continues to grow, leading to increased distrust and less collaboration across the aisle. As policymakers and education leaders are navigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and thinking long-term about needed innovations in education across the continuum, bipartisan collaboration and communication will be required to achieve a high-quality equitable education for all students. Governor Chris Christie and David Axelrod join us to discuss the role of bipartisanship in education policy and practice, what lessons can be taken from the response to the pandemic at all levels of government, and how policymakers and leaders from all political perspectives can work together in the service of education and learning. This webinar will include an audience Q&A.
