Indivisibles,
You’ve already heard us talk about this bill over and over again, so we’re
not going to bore you with the details. Today the For the People Act is
being marked up in the Senate Rules Committee and we need you to call your
Senator.
This is the first time this bill has ever been marked up in the Senate, so
it’s a really important day to show all 100 Senators, no matter their
party, how much support it has across the country.
Need a refresher on what For the People does? [ [link removed] ]Click here to re-read our
resource on it before you call your Senator.
Already up to speed? Call your Senator and tell them to support the For
the People Act. Here’s what to do depending on your Senator:
1. If they’ve already co-sponsored the bill (every Democrat except Joe
Manchin), [ [link removed] ]click here to call and tell them thank you, then urge
them to speak out publicly about moving the bill urgently without
letting the filibuster get in the way.
2. For Republicans, [ [link removed] ]click here to call and tell them you support this
bill, you expect them to too, and you won’t forget how they vote on
it.
3. If you’re in West Virginia, [ [link removed] ]use this customized script to tell
Senator Manchin our democracy is at stake, and urge him to support the
bill. Don’t forget to call back on the main Senate line when you’re
done to reach Sen. Capito!
This bill is a must-pass if we want to make any long-term progress on our
biggest priorities, and today is an historic moment and a chance for us to
really show how much the American people care about passing it. Thanks in
advance for all your hard work!
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
P.S. -- Once you’ve made your call, if you have a few bucks to spare,
please consider [ [link removed] ]donating to Indivisible Project. It may not seem like a
lot, but even $3 could help fund web hosting for scripts like these or any
number of other projects!
