If you're anything like me, you've felt a sinking feeling in your gut as you've watched the lies, conspiracies, and chaos unfold since the 2020 election. And now it's my own party that's slowly sinking -- much like the Titanic.

Whether you're a Republican, Democrat, or Independent, I believe reasonable people of goodwill can agree that watching one of our two major political parties devolve into a cult of personality is dangerous for America, and counter to what our founders intended.? We know America needs the competition of at least two solid, sane political parties in order to be its best.??

And rather than disinfecting the GOP with light and truth, the leadership has embraced a new litmus test for being a Republican: It's more important that you embrace "THE BIG LIE" than it is to actually hold conservative principles.?

That's how Liz Cheney, one of the most traditionally conservative members of Congress, can have her head on the proverbial chopping block just because she dared to tell the truth and hold Donald Trump accountable for inciting an insurrection.? We are living in the Twilight Zone.

But there is something we can do!? If you have a few minutes to spare, please call as many of these congressional offices as you can.? These are the Republican men and women who did NOT object to certifying the 2020 electoral votes, and they are our best hope for a vote to retain Liz Cheney in leadership.

Regardless of what happens this week, we cannot pretend that January 6th didn't happen. We cannot pretend it isn't a stain on the Republican Party. We cannot pretend it isn't a scar on America herself.? Kevin McCarthy wants to throw out Liz Cheney because her truth-telling puts him in an uncomfortable situation.? But by trying to snuff out the truth, those of us who reject "The Big Lie" will only be more emboldened (like this news-making tweet today):

A lot of people, including many of you, have asked why I don't just leave the party.? The reason is I was a Republican long before Donald Trump compromised my party, its values, and its principles.? I realize this battle for the soul of the GOP may not be victorious in the end.? But I also refuse to give up the Party of Lincoln to QAnon and the Trump Family without doing everything in my power to save it first.
