John, Governor Greg Gianforte just ended our state’s participation in the federal COVID-19 unemployment programs. Montana is now the first state in the ENTIRE COUNTRY to pull out of the program. One might ask: Why’d he do it? Well, Gianforte claims there is a labor shortage in our state and that employers can’t find workers because they’re just being paid oh-so-well on unemployment. But let’s translate that from a more honest standpoint: employers can’t find workers because they’re offering to pay them $8.75 an hour while we’re still struggling through a pandemic and out-of-control housing costs. Ripping away an unemployment program that our state doesn’t even pay for because we have a terrible minimum wage law is cruel and unnecessary. 48 other states are perfectly content to use this federal assistance program, but not Greg because "Greg knows best!" We need to get 100 Rapid Response Donations by midnight so that we can organize and mobilize Montanans to elect leaders who actually care about working people. Will you chip in today?
