A month ago when we launched this campaign to Ban Surveillance Advertising, we knew it would be an uphill battle. Holding Big Tech accountable for their debilitating stranglehold on the information we consume in pursuit of a buck -- not easy.
But with your help, we’re on our way to making real change in the way Big Tech monopolies use your data and browsing history to manipulate the information we consume.
This is a worldwide effort to curb Big Tech’s ability to manipulate public discourse, and we’re not alone. We’re joined by global leaders like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and thousands of concerned people like you.
This is a priority for the more than 40 organizations across the U.S. and Europe demanding a ban on surveillance advertising. We’re already seeing the effect of our coalition. Rep. Anna Eshoo (Silicon Valley’s own Congresswoman) is planning to propose legislation to ban surveillance advertising.
If you can help us build on this momentum to Ban Surveillance Advertising and hold Big Tech monopolies like Facebook and Google accountable, please consider making a donation to help us fund our work. Just click here to chip in now. [[link removed]]
We can’t rely on Big Tech to curb their own bad practices. Because of their toxic business model of surveillance advertising, extremism isn’t a bug on social media platforms -- it’s a feature.
As users, we’re not their customers. Advertisers are. And as long as users keep engaging and clicking the content they’re serving, the platforms have no reason to curb their bad practices -- even when faced with catastrophic consequences like the U.S. Capitol insurrection earlier this year.
With your help, we can fight for real accountability and regulation, starting with an end to surveillance advertising.
Thanks for being a part of this effort,
The Accountable Tech Team
