While interviewing with Chris Hayes on MSNBC, Bernie Sanders took some time to remind us what's at stake: “Let's be clear, the debate now with the Republican party, it's not over health care, or education, or climate. It's whether or not we remain a democracy.”
We're facing a difficult cycle, team. Later in that same interview, Bernie said: “From a historical perspective, it is going to be a really tough time for Democrats to retain control of the House and the Senate. And if we lose in either body, then to a significant degree, Biden's agenda is finished. ”
Bernie's right. It's clearer than ever that our country is at a turning point. We can either allow those who incited a deadly insurrection at the behest of a wannabe authoritarian to take over our government, or we can do everything in our power to protect our majorities in Congress and ensure that those leading us respect our democracy.
We know the odds are stacked against us.
But history also told us that we wouldn't defeat an incumbent president or see a woman of color as vice president, and yet we have Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House.
We've been overcoming the odds with your help for years, and we're not about to stop now when our democracy is on the line. Our team is recruiting progressives to challenge seditionists in the House and Senate -- because this election is critical for our democracy.
