Across the country, Republicans are trying to change the narrative and distract us from their voter suppression tactics and their lies about the election by waging war against another community of allies — the transgender community.
From bills that ban transgender men and women from participating in sports to allowing Medicaid to deny payments for gender transition surgery, the GOP are targeting some of our most vulnerable allies in the fight for equality and inclusion. According to the AJC, soon Georgia Republicans will get in on the act.
These attacks on the transgender community do not reflect the views of the diverse, multicultural majority that resides in Georgia, and the electorate deserves better than politicians who are more concerned with fighting culture wars to maintain the status quo.
If we want to prevent the GA GOP from persecuting our trans brothers and sisters, we have to fight like hell to win the race for Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Lieutenant Governor, and as many down ballot races as possible. To do this, we must reach rural youth and Black Democratic voters and galvanize them to show up and show out in even bigger numbers than in 2020.
