Join clergy, lay leaders, and faith allies from across the Fair Food Nation on June 2-3 for the first-ever Faith & Fair Food Summit!
From the CIW’s humble beginnings in a borrowed backroom of the local Catholic church to the historic Freedom Fast in New York City, the faith community has always played a central role in the struggle for farmworker justice. In a 2017 letter to the Wendy's Board of Directors, faith allies from the Interfaith Worker Justice network offered this simple truth:
“Wendy’s actions unequivocally fail the basic moral code that demands every single one of us work tirelessly for justice for all people on this Earth – and that unquestioningly prioritizes human life over corporate profits. Communities of faith, workers, and consumers across the country will not allow such actions to go unanswered…”
Today, we’re excited to announce the next chapter of this ongoing alliance between faith leaders and farmworkers, with the first-ever Faith & Fair Food Summit!
Inspired by our student ally “encuentros,” this virtual summit is an opportunity for clergy and lay leaders of all faiths to come together to reflect upon, strategize, and grow our farmworker solidarity network. And the timing couldn’t be better, with important campaign updates from the upcoming Wendy's shareholder meeting, to our new Delivery With Dignity campaign.
