Help Colorado Dems Win!

John,

I wanted to take a second to reflect upon Mother’s Day and all the moms across Colorado and the country that Democrats are fighting for.

I finally got my 2nd COVID vaccine yesterday, but it still meant the 2nd Mother’s Day in a row that I could not see her in person (because I won’t be fully  immunized for two more weeks).  I am looking forward to hugging my mom in person and I know many of you are looking forward to seeing your moms and grandmothers as well.

My mom was the first person in her family to get a college degree.  She got an undergraduate degree in mathematics, graduated DU law in 1966, and traveled to the former Soviet Union repeatedly to help Jewish Refuseniks escape religious persecution.  She grew up at a time where she knew people who had back alley abortions because it was not legal to get a medically safe abortion.  She spent decades fighting for the causes that we care so deeply about and the ones that we are committed to fighting for here at the CDP: racial and environmental justice, workers’ rights, and the fundamental right to make choices about our lives and our own bodies.

These represent a few of the many issues we are fighting for. Meanwhile, the NRA and people like Ted Cruz used the opportunity to post snarky content on twitter, with Cruz taking low blows at the women and non- binary folks we’re also fighting our tails off for.

As I reflect, I am so proud of my mom and moms everywhere-- moms who committed themselves to groups like Moms Demand Action and so many more.  My mom taught me anything was possible -- and that silence in the face of injustice is not an option.

So as you reflect on Mother’s Day, consider donating whatever you can to support our shared mission at the Colorado Dems to continue fighting for Moms everywhere.
