In 2021, NIRH is working in 24 states across the country, including New Jersey, to advance proactive legislation that has a direct impact on people’s ability to access reproductive health care. With renewed attacks on abortion access at the state level, this is where the fight for reproductive freedom is taking place.

Last year, NIRH partnered with the Thrive NJ coalition to advocate for the introduction of the Reproductive Freedom Act (RFA) in New Jersey. The RFA would fundamentally impact the lives of New Jerseyans by removing medically unnecessary regulations and financial barriers to accessing reproductive health in New Jersey, including abortion, birth control, and pregnancy-related care.

As a proud member of the Thrive NJ coalition, we’ve been hard at work to ensure that this groundbreaking legislation moves forward. Earlier this year, NIRH commissioned polling in New Jersey that revealed widespread public support for the RFA and access to reproductive health care in general. In addition, we participated in a Facebook Live event with one of our Thrive NJ partners to discuss the poll findings and how New Jersey voters understand the urgency of protecting and expanding access to abortion. Together with our partners and our supporters, we are continuing to press for passage of the RFA.
