** Hey everybody! As part of my congressional campaign I recently started making videos every Saturday to let people all throughout the nation know how I feel about what happened throughout the week. I try to talk about a wide variety of topics on these episodes, so I want to say thanks to everyone who has reached out and suggested interesting stories over the last few weeks.
This week we're talking about Bernie's stent procedure & how his age/health has been covered by the media, the upcoming Democratic Debate, Elizabeth Warren's “Empowering American Workers and Raising Wages” plan, and Donald Trump's terrible response to the impeachment inquiry announced by Nancy Pelosi last week.
Here's my favorite quote from this week's episode:
"What keeps me optimistic is knowing that the majority of America does not feel like Donald Trump. The majority of our nation is not racist, sexist, or xenophobic. The majority of our nation does not believe that climate change is a hoax. And the majority of our nation does not want to see a President that embarrasses themselves and our entire nation by trolling people on Twitter when they should be doing their job.
Trump may end up winning in 2020, but that’s only because we have institutions like the Electoral College that make a mockery of our democratic process. We need to elect political leadership in this country that is committed to revitalizing our democracy and putting more power directly into the hands of the people. We need ranked choice or approval voting, publicly funded elections, and we need to abolish the Electoral College so the voices of the people of this country can finally be heard."
