** The latest battleline for green on green violence.

Wisconsin State Journal ([link removed]) (5/7/21) reports: "A proposed high-voltage power line between northern Iowa and southwestern Wisconsin faces yet another legal challenge. Environmental groups sued the Army Corps of Engineers in federal court Wednesday over its permit allowing utilities to place towers in the Mississippi River for the $492 million project known as Cardinal-Hickory Creek. The National Wildlife Refuge Association, Driftless Area Land Conservancy and three other organizations say the agency violated federal environmental law by failing to take a 'hard look' at the environmental consequences of the 102-mile line on public waters and lands, wildlife, recreation and property values...This is the fourth legal action brought by the Environmental Law & Policy Center on behalf of the Driftless Area Land
Conservancy and others against the project, a joint venture of American Transmission Company, ITC Midwest and Dairyland Power Cooperative. In a joint statement, the utilities said the lawsuits could delay the delivery of 'low-cost, renewable energy,' slowing the nation’s progress toward carbon-free electricity and increasing costs to ratepayers."
** "Environmentalists should realize though that more natural gas is why the U.S. has been cutting CO2 emissions faster than any other country and doing so without the business hampering regulations and mandates that plague Europe."

Apparently being hysterical is more important than being correct when it comes to sea ice predictions.

(5/7/21) column: "Over the past few decades, geographers, oceanographers, geophysicists, glaciologists, climatologists, geoengineers, and Al Gore –ha– have shown great interest in Arctic Ocean sea ice extent. Many of these experts envisaged an ice-free Arctic Ocean. Needless to say, each and every one of these forecasts has been proven hopelessly wrong, yet most of the scientists behind them have retained their positions and credibility within their respective fields. This is an indication of how deep the narrative runs...This is the danger when politics, and the funding it brings, drives science, instead of the age-old standards of ideas, logic, testing, and real-world observations...I wonder what new power-hungry know-nothing know-it-all politician we’ll be hearing from in 2031, when AOC’s prediction also uneventfully passes us by. Although by then, a far more likely climatic reality will be upon us: global cooling, as decades of low solar activity would by then of had a cumulative impact
on terrestrial temperatures:"
They aren't fighting against dirty energy. They are fighting against affordable energy.

(5/9/21) column: "On Friday, August 30th, the Indian Point nuclear power plant in New York state shut down. In a state that has pledged to obtain 70% of it’s power from renewables, you’d imagine that the loss of over ten percent of the state’s power, and 81% of the clean energy in the downstate, would be mourned. You’d imagine that the imminent opening of more natural gas plants, and more fossil fuel emissions pouring into the atmosphere—just as what happened the last time New York closed a nuclear plant—would be seen as a great shame, exacerbating the impact of climate change. You’d imagine that the loss of thousands of good jobs would be seen as a mistake. instead, liberals celebrated it. The Natural Resources Defense Council—who pride themselves as 'Earth’s Best Defense'—published a piece celebrating the closure of the plant. Riverkeeper, another environmentalist group, did the same, making it the centerpiece of one of their campaigns. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, someone who clearly, reg
ardless of what you think about her policies, cares for the environment, was in favor of the shutdown as well. Let’s be clear. Shutting down Indian Point wipes out more zero-emissions energy then is produced each year by every solar panel and wind turbine. Combined. And this was celebrated by those who purportedly want more clean energy."

(5/4/21) reports: "As so much of the world works to pivot away from fossil fuels and the internal-combustion engine, a new study from the University of California, Davis, published in the journal Nature Energy last week, showed some concerning signs for what the auto industry still needs to get right. According to this study, which looked at California EV owners specifically between 2015-2019, 18% of electric vehicle owners switched back to a gas-powered car. For plug-in hybrid owners, 20% of them flipped back to a car solely powered by an engine. The major takeaway from the EV flip-flopping lands in the lap of charging -- specifically at-home charging. The lack of reliable Level 2 charging at home (that's a 240-volt plug) was a major factor leading to EV 'discontinuance,' as the researchers called it. That makes sense. If you don't have a place to charge reliably, it makes it a lot harder to enjoy the benefits associated with an EV, including an overall lower cost of ownership...According
to the research, about half of the respondents who bought another EV had access to Level 2 charging, compared to the 30% who dumped the electric lifestyle, but had a proper plug at home. The research found owners were 53% less likely to buy another EV if they did not have access to convenient, at-home charging. Essentially, it was a coin toss over whether an EV owner either stuck with it or returned to gas pumps."
