Folks -- That is a picture of an AR-15 assault rifle. This weapon has killed thousands of Americans.

Sandy Hook. Orlando. Las Vegas. El Paso. Assault weapons like the AR-15 and high-capacity magazines don't belong on our streets.

After every mass shooting, we say "this can't happen again." But then it happens, and we start the cycle anew. Just last night, four people were killed and many more were injured at the hands of an act of gun violence in Kansas City. Many more were likely killed or injured in gun violence all across the country that didn't make national headlines.

It's unacceptable that we fear sending our children to school, worried it's the last time we might say goodbye.

We need to take action. We need to elect a President who knows how to defeat the NRA once and for all. I've passed an assault weapons ban. I got these monsters outlawed once before, and I intend to do it again. That's why Trump and the NRA are so afraid of me. And they will do anything they can to make sure I'm not your next president.

Getting assault weapons off our streets is only the first step. Even more importantly: We have to address what's happening in America.
