John,
‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, a novel and subsequent television show about a dystopian society that treats women as property of the state, is often invoked as a terrifying possibility of the future of abortion rights and access.
Give now to not just protect but expand abortion access.
In last week’s episode, they looked not into the future, but to the present with a flashback showing a character seeking an abortion being tricked into visiting a crisis pregnancy center, or anti-abortion fake clinic. Reproaction has been at the forefront of the fight against fake clinics, and the episode showed exactly how these places take advantage of pregnant people, attempting to manipulate them out of their reproductive choices.
From our fake clinic database to our action toolkit, help local activists take action against these dangerous clinics in their own neighborhoods.
Like all tools of reproductive oppression, fake clinics often harm low-income women and women of color the most – cruelty that leaps out of dystopian fiction into the real world, past and present. We are glad to see the sinister intentions of these fake clinics tackled in popular media, but we need your help to keep holding fake clinics accountable.
Sincerely,
Erin Matson
Executive Director, Reproaction
