Dear John,
Methane emissions are responsible for at least 25% of the warming we experience today. That's why we're doing something about it. By passing S.J.Res 14, the Senate invoked the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to start the process of overturning outdated and dangerous Trump policies that gutted federal regulations on methane and other smog forming pollution from oil and gas operations.
While the Senate brought us one step closer to restoring common-sense protections for communities and the climate, it’s now up to our leaders in the House to hold polluters accountable. As debate begins on HJ Res. 34 — the House version of the Methane CRA — our leaders are poised to act. Please take this moment to reach out to your representatives and tell them to clear the way for the EPA to adopt next-generation methane standards
Common-sense, cost-effective limits on oil and gas methane pollution will combat the climate crisis and lead to healthier air — tell Congress to support the Methane CRA today!
With one simple vote, Congress can get regulation of methane from the oil and gas industry back on track. If enacted, the Methane CRA will clear legal and bureaucratic hurdles hindering the Biden administration from advancing sensible safeguards for one of the most powerful climate pollutants — methane.
The science is clear, swiftly curbing methane emissions could slow our current rate of climate change by 30%. Reducing methane pollution from the oil and gas industry is the fastest, most cost-effective way to slow the rate of warming now, while also cutting health-harming local air pollution for the millions of Americans who live near oil and gas wells and other operations.
It’s time that our leaders put sensible solutions back on track. Send a message now and tell our leaders to reduce harmful air pollution that drives climate change!
Thank you for raising your voice,
Wes Rogerson
