The 2022 electoral map is taking shape, and the news is not good for Democrats. A spate of Democratic retirements means that our House majority is in jeopardy now more than ever.
These House Democrats leaving office means there will be a glut of open seats that we have to defend. Republicans smell blood in the water, and the NRCC recently added seats to its list of 2022 targets, bringing that number to a whopping 57.
The good news is that some of these Democrats are running for higher office and we'll have lots of strong, progressive candidates for the Senate and governor's mansions across the country.
But we've seen that if you let Republicans control even one lever of power in Washington, they will use it to grind progress to a halt. We can't afford that when our country is in such dire need of rebuilding. We must hold the House.
There's no doubt that the Democratic Party will run outstanding candidates for the House in 2022. But we can't wait to start preparing until then. We have to build our network and resources now so that our candidates can hit the ground running against their Trump-imitating opponents.
