Dear John,
For the last two years, supporters like you have helped AFSC deliver hygiene kits and basic supplies to poor and elderly residents living under occupation in Gaza and the West Bank. As regional director for AFSC’s programs in the Middle East, I can tell you that the generosity of the AFSC community has been deeply appreciated by those who have received your help!
Simple gifts make all the difference in the world to housebound elders living in poverty under the Israeli occupation. A face mask or soap is protection from the pandemic. A radio gives access to public health news. A fan is respite from the summer heat.
Together, we can help seniors stay healthy in this pandemic. And that is why I am writing to you today to ask for your support.
Give today to help AFSC provide basic health and sanitation supplies to elderly Palestinians so they can better protect themselves from COVID-19.
AFSC has been on the ground in Palestine for decades, advocating for the rights of communities with limited access to healthcare, electricity, clean water, education, and other essential needs. In Gaza, the health system is critically overburdened, and the whole society is suffering as the result of 14 years of blockade. In the 60% of the West Bank under full Israeli control, Palestinians have limited or no access to medical care. Over 300,000 Palestinians have already contracted COVID and over 3,250 have died as COVID continues to spread rapidly in the West Bank and Gaza, causing further burdens on these stretched systems.
As you can well imagine, taking steps to slow the spread of the virus in a population that has not had access to vaccines is critical – as is advocacy for medical care without discrimination for the Palestinians.
Your donation will help us deliver assistance and advocate for Palestinian rights.
In the coming months, with support from kind people like you, we will provide seniors in Gaza and the West Bank with kits that include essential virus protection items and sanitation supplies. We will also include solar-powered LED lights, fans, and radios. These are items that individuals and families living in poverty simply cannot afford.
A donation of $150 helps us provide a kit to one family. But a gift in any amount makes a difference. Please give today to support elders in Palestine.
Thank you for joining us in helping as many people as possible stay healthy and safe in this time of pandemic – and for helping us advocate for the systemic changes needed to address the injustices and inequities that put people in harm’s way. We are grateful for your support.
