Six people were killed in Colorado Springs Sunday morning when a suspect opened fire at a birthday party before taking his own life.

Colorado Springs police responded to a 911 call at the Canterbury Mobile Home Park around 12:18 a.m. (2:18 a.m. ET) and discovered the victims and suspect with gunshot wounds. Six were pronounced dead on the scene and a seventh was taken to the hospital but succumbed to their injuries, police said.

The suspect was allegedly the boyfriend of one of the victims.

"Words fall short to describe the tragedy that took place this morning," Colorado Springs Police Chief Vince Niski said.

"As the chief of police, as a husband, as a father, as a grandfather, as a member of this community, my heart breaks for the families who have lost someone they love and for the children who have lost their parents. From the officers who responded to the shooting to the investigators still on scene, we are all left incredibly shaken."

McConnell: I'm ‘100 Percent’ Focused on ‘Stopping’ Biden Agenda

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said he is "100 percent" focused "on stopping" Biden's administration.

The minority leader made his remarks amidst a heated House GOP leadership feud: Rep. Liz Cheney (R-KY) stands to lose her leadership post over remarks criticizing- and rebuking - former President Trump's baseless claims that he won the 2020 election.

Asked about Cheney's endangered leadership post and the so-called "Big Lie" that the 2020 election wasn't valid, McConnell dodged both questions and instead responded:

"One-hundred percent of my focus is on stopping this new administration."

"We're confronted with severe challenges from a new administration and a narrow majority of Democrats in the House and a 50-50 Senate to turn America into a socialist country, and that's 100% of my focus," McConnell added.

House Holds Hearing on Atrocities Committed by China Against Uyghurs

The House Foreign Affairs Committee recently held a hearing on the atrocities committed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) against Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in the Xinjiang region.

The U.S. declared the persecution a genocide during the Trump administration in January, and Biden's Secretary of State Antony Blinken has agreed with that designation.

The witness list for the hearing included a survivor of the CCP’s concentration camps, along with an activist for Uyghur rights and an international affairs scholar.

Nury Turkel of the Uyghur Human Rights Project testified: 

“The Chinese state has spent the last four years crushing our culture, language, civilizational accomplishment in poetry, literature, the arts and theology, architecture and scholarship. The Uyghur imams, religious scholars, university presidents, professors and teachers, successful business owners, entrepreneurs, they have all been swept en masse into the modern day industrial scale concentration camps.”
