Everyone knows Mother’s Day is one of the hardest days of the year for me.
I spend today reflecting on motherhood and what it means.
Jordan was a miracle baby God gave me as I so desperately wanted a child.
But nearly 10 years ago, the beautiful boy who made me a mother was killed by a man who shot 10 rounds at him — because he and his friends were playing music in their car.
I cried, I prayed, and I decided to fight for justice for my son. And to make sure that no other mother had to feel the pain I did.
Even though he's gone, I’m still mothering Jordan through this work.
I carry his memory in my heart every day — through our ups and downs, victories and setbacks.
I'm grateful to God for turning my pain into purpose and for giving me the strength to keep going.
And I'm grateful to you, John, for standing with me in this fight.
All my best,
Lucy McBath
