Look Friend, protests over the last year have highlighted the violence and systemic racism present in police departments. Yet American cities continue to send upwards of 25% of their funding to their police departments.

So some Democrats and activists have demanded cities move funding toward community-led public safety, and invest in protecting marginalized communities rather than putting them at risk.
