Republicans in the Texas Senate just approved permitless carry — allowing people to carry guns in public with no license, no safety course, and no background check. It's now all but law, pending a vote in the House and a signature by Gov. Abbott.
Texas has already had 18 mass shootings in 2021 — the most of any state.
And Jack xxxxxx, this bill means more people will carry more guns in more places. And that means more Texans will be victims of gun violence, plain and simple.
It’s a reckless attack on all of our safety, and we can’t let it go unanswered.

Most Texans oppose this bill. According to a recent University of Texas poll, Texans opposed unlicensed carry, 59 percent to 34 percent. But Republicans don’t care about the will of the people.
This bill would let more criminals carry guns in public. The Department of Public Safety denied 2,422 license to carry applicants last year, with the majority of denials stemming from past criminal convictions. But Republicans don’t care about our safety.
The only thing Texas Republicans care about is themselves. And the only way to stop them is to show that there are political consequences for jeopardizing our safety.
