Today we have hope, friend.
We’re getting the pandemic under control, getting shots into arms, and are slowly (but safely) able to see our loved ones in person. No matter how you and your family are celebrating Mother’s Day this year, I hope it’s filled with joy and happiness.
I’ve often said that being a dad to Ellie and Ben is the most rewarding job I have, and I know my wife Marla feels the same way. Like all of you, we’ve experienced countless unforeseen challenges and hardships, but my family is doing well because of Marla.
My wife is courageous, strong, brilliant, and loving. On this journey of representing you and your family in Congress, she’s been an integral part of my success — I couldn’t do this without her. As I often say, my wife is Wonder Woman. I literally don’t know how she does it all.
Today is also bittersweet for me. My mom, Gwenn, passed away in 2018. While I miss her terribly, I celebrate the life she created for me. As a preschool teacher, my mom saw the absolute best in our children and community. I would not be where am I without her love, guidance, faith, and confidence she had in me. I think about her, and miss her, every single day.
My mom taught me the importance of working hard and giving back — a lesson that still drives me to do my best in every avenue of my life.
However you’re celebrating today, let’s take a moment to be thankful for the moms in our lives and to be thankful for everything they do.
I hope you and your family have a happy and healthy Mother’s Day.
Yours,
Josh Gottheimer
