Being the mother of my children is my greatest source of pride, and I wanted to take a moment to celebrate today by recognizing the accomplishments of my strong, kind, and determined daughter, Jena.

Growing up, it wasn’t always easy for Jena. We come from a working-class background, and Jena grew up in rural Colorado which limited her access to many of the opportunities that are offered in wealthier, urban communities. However, Jena didn’t let this slow her down. Jena used her grit to push forward, going on to be the first one in our family to graduate from a four-year college, then law school, and she is now the Colorado Secretary of State.
