Today is Mother’s Day, the only day of the year completely dedicated to celebrating the women who love us unconditionally, teach us to follow the golden rule and inspire us to be the best versions of ourselves.

Moms have a tough job and a global pandemic hasn't made it any easier. It's often a thankless job, but undoubtedly one of the most important.

Let me take this moment to thank all of the mothers out there for finding the courage each day to keep going and tackle this pandemic head on. Thank you for showing us what resilience and strength looks like.

We love our moms. They believe in us and they challenge us to do better each day.

Today and every day, I’m grateful to the dynamic women and mothers that have shaped my life -- especially my wife Martha, and my own mother, Mary Jean.

And I want you to know that I will always fight to make sure that the women in Delaware and around the nation are supported.

President Biden’s American Families Plan will help our nation do just that -- support the women we can’t imagine our lives without.

This ambitious plan will help families bounce back from this pandemic. President Biden is committed to:

• Investing in our families by expanding paid family and parental leave so that no parent is forced to choose between taking care of family and putting food on the table
• Extending tax cuts for families with children
• Establishing universal preschool for all 3 and 4 year olds
• Offering 2 years of free community college to students
• Supporting our childcare workers and educators with better pay and development opportunities
