Dear John,

As a new mom, Mother’s Day has
taken on a special meaning this year. Raising our baby, River,
has opened my heart to a whole new life filled with hope and more
determination than ever to create a kinder and more sustainable
world.

I feel so fortunate to be able to
nurture my son in all of the ways that nature intended, and I
wish all mothers in the animal kingdom could experience that
sacred maternal bond with their young, devoid of exploitation by
humans.

Farm Sanctuary’s Mother’s Day
campaign beautifully honors the lives of extraordinary mothers
who—against all odds—survived dire circumstances, healed from
their traumas, and graciously share their affection with others.

With a one-time donation of $35,
you can symbolically adopt a rescued family through their Adopt a
Farm Animal program. In thanks, you'll receive a digital,
printable certificate to share with someone you love.

A Mother’s Day adoption is a gift
that keeps giving and supports the wellness of wonderful
Sanctuary moms like Henrietta turkey (

As I celebrate my first Mother’s
Day, I hope you will join me in honoring all of the inspiring
moms and maternal figures who’ve made a difference in your life.

With love,

Meet the loving animals you can adopt this
Mother’s Day:

Jackie & Dixon

Jackie arrived at the slaughterhouse with
a newborn son. They were turned over to rescuers, but tragically,
her child was ill and passed away before arriving at Sanctuary.
However, when this grieving mama met Dixon, an orphaned calf, she
welcomed him into her heart. Now, when other calves need a
mother, Jackie’s there for them too. A mother once is a mother
forever.

Cynthia & Bruce

Cynthia and Bruce were among 170+
survivors rescued from a backyard butcher. Cynthia clung to his
side, making it clear they belonged together. They’ve helped each
other heal and now, they’re some of our most outgoing goats! The
two continue to play and snuggle together. Getting to watch your
baby grow up is one of the greatest joys of motherhood—and
Cynthia doesn't want to miss a moment.

Henrietta

Henrietta may have a tough exterior, but
she’s a grandmotherly figure to our smallest chickens! Despite
never knowing her mother or having her own poults, she’s a
protective, kindred spirit for these once-orphaned chicks—and
it’s easy to see that their bond means as much to her as it does
them. The meat industry can never change who birds are:
flock-oriented, social creatures who thrive with love.
