Today is Mother's Day, so I want to share with you a little bit about my mom, Sandy Pressley.
Sandy Pressley was unapologetic. She was unapologetic in her love for me, and in her fight for me. She was an unapologetic Democrat, community builder, and justice seeker.
She was also an unapologetic super voter, news junkie, and Boston sports fan. She was unapologetic in her love for gospel and Broadway shows, a great cup of tea, and the color purple.
Like so many mamas, my mom was the backbone of our family, and of her community. She never apologized for authentically showing up in the world exactly as she was. And, from a very young age, she taught me a very important lesson: that you are enough.
So, on this special day, let's celebrate all the mamas in our lives. Let's make sure to let them know that we see them, the totality of them, and that they are enough.
Happy Mother's Day,
Ayanna
