National Center for Transgender Equality
John,
Just a week ago, trans people and our allies gathered at a march here
in Washington, D.C. to show the world the strength of our solidarity
and the progress that still must be made towards equality. I was proud
to march alongside many of you. Now, I'm writing because
there's another chance for us to make a difference for equality.
Aimee Stephens, a transgender woman from Michigan who was fired from
her job after coming out, is having her case heard before the Supreme
Court this coming Tuesday, October 8th. The decision in her case
stands to have an impact on every person who has faced discrimination
at their job for being openly transgender. Moreover,

it's the first time a case on our rights has been heard by the
Supreme Court.
Each and every second that our partner organizations are inside the
Supreme Court arguing on behalf of Aimee, we want to be outside
supporting her.
If you're able, I'd love to have you attend. We will
gather in front of the Supreme Court building at 8:00 AM, with the
rally and speakers beginning at 8:30 AM, and continuing until we
anticipate oral arguments will end around 12:30 PM. If you'd
like to join NCTE at the rally, please RSVP at this Facebook event.
Then, send me a text message at (202) 642-4492 or email me at

See you there.
In Solidarity,
Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen, NCTE Deputy Executive Director
