Governor DeWine and First Lady DeWine visited Clifton Mill, near Dayton, to promote Ohio Tourism Day.
Throughout the week, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted provided updates on Ohio's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other state initiatives.
On Monday,?Governor DeWine announced that a new Ohio Department of Health order will exempt?fully vaccinated staff in nursing homes and assisted living facilities from routine testing. Staff members who are not fully vaccinated will be required to be tested twice a week.?
An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines or two weeks after the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
HOMEBOUND VACCINATION PLAN
The Ohio Department of Aging and Ohio Department of Health?have developed a homebound vaccination playbook for organizations working to ensure homebound individuals have access to the vaccine.?By utilizing existing Rapid Response Teams, Ohio can deliver the vaccine where it is needed.?
That playbook is available on the coronavirus website at coronavirus.ohio.gov.?If you are a homebound individual or know a homebound individual who would like a vaccine, please contact your Area Agency on Aging at 1-866-243-5678.
Of the total vaccinated at the Wolstein Center last week, approximately 44 percent of those vaccinated were minorities and approximately 68 percent live in targeted high social-vulnerability zip codes. ?
The clinic is open 7 days a week, and walk-ins are accepted from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments are also available in advance by visiting GetTheShot.coronavirus.ohio.gov or by calling 833-4-ASK-ODH.
The Cleveland Indians are offering discounts on tickets for anyone who has been vaccinated at the Wolstein Center or any other vaccination location. Fans can get?$5 off regular priced Upper Box and Upper Reserved tickets?if they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.?This offer is only available online for series against the Cincinnati Reds May 7 ? 9, Chicago Cubs May 11 ? 12, and Minnesota Twins May 21 ? 23.
The Reds are also offering discounted View Level tickets for $10 for fans who show their COVID-19 vaccination card with at least one shot complete.?The offer is valid at Great American Ball Park ticket windows for Monday-Thursday games through June.?
IN-DEMAND JOBS WEEK
Lt. Governor Jon Husted launched In-Demand Jobs Week on Monday with a visit to the Cincinnati region. He stopped by Hughes STEM High School to talk to students about In-Demand Jobs and ways they can earn college credits and/or industry-recognized credentials at little or no cost.
Hughes was selected as one of the 12 pilot sites for the High School Tech Internship Pilot Program, a new internship opportunity that will introduce high school students to technology careers and businesses in Ohio.
On Tuesday, the Lt. Governor visited KIPP Columbus to help distribute COSI?s #NASA-themed STEM activity boxes to students as part of the COSI Ohio Distance Learning Initiative.
On Wednesday, Lt. Governor Husted celebrated a signing day event at C-TEC of Licking County. During his stop, he also had the chance to tour their Electronic & Technology and Medical Assisting labs.
On Friday, the Lt. Governor stopped at Rhodes State College in Lima to meet with students in the Uniquely Abled Academy. The program is designed to fill the workforce gap by training students on CNC equipment.
During his visit, the Lt. Governor had the chance to talk to the companies who have committed to hire the students and hear from the students? parents about how the program has positively impacted their children with autism.
On Tuesday, Governor DeWine announced that Ohio Department of Health Director Stephanie McCloud signed the following orders regarding COVID-19 testing frequency of residents and staff at assisted living facilities and nursing homes and opening of Senior Centers and Older Adult Day Services Centers:
On Wednesday, Governor DeWine, First Lady Fran DeWine and Development Services Agency Director Lydia Mihalik made several visits across Ohio to promote Ohio Tourism Day. They visited Clifton Mill near Dayton, Dietsch Brothers in Findlay, the National Museum of the Great Lakes in Toledo, and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.?
On Thursday,?Governor DeWine announced that Ohio's state-federal mass vaccination clinic in downtown Cleveland will offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine next week.?Anyone age 18 or older may receive the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine starting May 11 through May 17.
The clinic, located at Cleveland State University's Wolstein Center at 2000 Prospect Avenue, accepts walk-ins from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments can also be booked online at gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov or by calling 833-4-ASK-ODH.
The mass vaccination clinic, which is operating in partnership between the state of Ohio, Federal Emergency Management Agency, City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and Cleveland State University, launched in mid-March. In its first six weeks of operations, more than 237,000 first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine were administered.
The clinic will continue offering first doses of the Pfizer vaccine to anyone age 16 or older through Monday, May 10. Second doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be administered beginning on Tuesday, May 18, for those who received their first doses of vaccine at the Wolstein Center in late April and early May.

The clinic may extend beyond May 31 if demand for vaccine in a mass vaccination setting warrants that the clinic continue. There are currently more than 1,100 other local area providers offering vaccines across the state.?
Administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was paused in Ohio last month as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization conducted a thorough review of extremely rare blood-clotting events reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. The CDC and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allowed use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to resume on April 23 after comprehensive analysis found that the benefits of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine outweigh the risks.?Providers in Ohio were permitted to immediately resume administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine provided they continue to follow all guidance by the CDC and FDA.
On Friday, Governor DeWine continued his tour of numerous COVID-19 vaccination sites around Ohio with a visit to a mobile vaccination clinic held at Price Hill Branch Library in Cincinnati. Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health have been encouraging local providers to make vaccines even more accessible for Ohioans with creative programs to help get more people vaccinated. Mobile clinics are one such way to get vaccines closer to Ohioans near where they live and thus easier to obtain.
As of Friday, there have been 1,072,312 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Ohio. Additionally, 19,285 confirmed and probable COVID-19 deaths have occurred. A total of 56,400 people have been hospitalized, including 7,793 admissions to intensive care units.
