Democrats won historic victories in 2020, but we've got some bad news: In one of the first tests of where we stand for 2022, we just lost.
In a suburban Texas district just outside Fort Worth, no Democrats won enough votes to move to the top-two runoff. Instead, two Republicans will advance, including the top vote-getter, the Trump-endorsed wife of a former Congressman.
That's right: Donald Trump is still winning elections for Republicans. All the signs are pointing to his heavy influence in 2022. He is raising money, making winning endorsements, and meeting with top elected Republican officials regularly.
This suburban seat is the perfect example of the districts that drove Democrats to victory across the country in the House in 2018 and 2020. It's an uphill battle that we can't afford to lose -- especially not to Trump-backed conspiracy theorists and racists.
