Ramadan Mubarak Friend ,
It’s officially been two months since I joined the Muslim Advocates team as a staff attorney, and I ’m exhausted in the best way.
I have already helped file a lawsuit against one of the world’s largest corporations , Facebook, for its role in promoting anti-Muslim violence; and thats just the beginning. In just the past couple of months we’ve:
*
Sued
the
Virginia
Department
of
Corrections
for
hiding
its
mistreatment
of
Muslim
prisoners
during
Ramadan.
*
Worked
with
the
family
of
Muhammad
Muhaymin
Jr.
to
draw
national
attention
to
how
the
government
is
denying
them
justice
for
the
police
killing
of
their
brother
and
father.
*
Led
the
passage
of
the
first
Muslim
civil
rights
bill
,
the
NO
BAN
Act,
in
the
House
of
Representatives.
*
Agitated
to
ensure
that
the
Biden
Administration
kept
its
word
to
restore
refugee
admissions.

I came to Muslim Advocates from the for-profit sector because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of Muslims and all Americans. I was drawn to Muslim Advocates because it’s unquestionably progressive and fights for the rights of all . On the horizon are actions centering Muslim with disabilities, Ahmadiyya Muslims, and Black Muslims.
We do this because it’s the right thing to do and because it needs to be done. We’re working to redefine what Muslim advocacy can be and daring the United States to honor the rights and dignity of all of us, regardless of our race, sex, ethnicity, language, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, sect, or practice.
But it doesn’t happen without the support of donors . As we enter the last few days of Ramadan, I’m asking you to support our work, whether you’re Muslim or not. We’re zakat-eligible and tax deductible, and we need your support to keep doing this important work.
