Major update on the fight to bring back net neutrality, John.

Last week, a federal court ruled that the FCC’s 2017 decision to overturn net neutrality was legally flawed. It said the agency could not prevent states from enacting their own open internet legislation — but the court did not reverse the order entirely.

Where does that leave us? It means that for now, on the national level, net neutrality is still repealed -- indefinitely. But that can all change with a Democratic president committed to restoring net neutrality protections and taking the internet back from Big Cable.

DFA has partnered with a coalition of progressive organizations calling on the 2020 presidential candidates to take our net neutrality pledge.

As long as net neutrality protections are repealed, Big Cable and phone companies are free to rip consumers off by charging more for internet ‘fast lanes.’ We’ve already seen some alarming reports of internet providers slowing online services. Not only that, but they can even see and control the information we’re accessing online.

The next president has the ability to restore crucial open internet protections. But Big Cable is trying to prevent that by using its money to influence the election.
