John,

It has been a wild week at your Texas Capitol. And we should know, because we've been there, in some cases for pretty much 24-hour stretches.

The Texas Rising Action team is a little bit tired, but still very much motivated to keep going after spending the entire day at the Capitol as we awaited an early Friday morning vote by the Texas House on the voter suppression bill Senate Bill 7. But before we even got to that 4 a.m. vote, the team was everywhere -- in the House gallery, in legislators' offices, online organizing fellow Texans. And we were even on state and national TV. This week we also worked on what we called "Finals Week," as in handing out final assignments calling on legislators to pass our proactive agenda, including the George Floyd Act, the Power Act and housing non-discrimination for LGBTQ+ Texans.

Today, one of the voter suppression bills unfortunately moved a step forward. That doesn't mean we stop fighting; it means we fight even harder. And we'll keep pushing for progressive legislation that improves our state and the lives of the diverse people who live here.

This isn't over until the final gavel falls on the legislative session on May 31. We plan to be there as much as possible and until the very last moment.

As the clock ticks down, please consider making a gift to our Rapid Response Fund to ensure we can keep fighting back with everything we’ve got [[link removed]] .

In the fight,
