Friend,
New polling out this week shows that a majority of American voters from both parties support the
For the People Act. Most people agree that for democracy to work, it must work for all of us — regardless of race, zip code, or party.
Despite that, GOP statehouses are attempting to pass over 300 bills to restrict voting rights in 47 states; few of which have already passed in Georgia, Montana, Iowa, Arkansas, Kentucky, Utah, Wyoming, and Florida. While voters support the fundamental American principle of the right to vote, there are still 50 GOP senators who are completely unwilling to take action to secure future elections and ensure that everyone has the freedom to have an equal say.
That is why we need to turn up the pressure on every senator to make sure they are prioritizing the passage of the For the People Act.
Will you join NextGen America in contacting your senators to let them know how important this legislation is and voice your support today?
The
For the People Act represents a full overhaul of our tangled, complicated election systems while also targeting government corruption. It protects and expands the right and the opportunity to vote. It reforms our broken, partisan redistricting process where politicians select their voters instead of the other way around. It also addresses the exorbitant influence of special interests and dark money in our politics while codifying some much-needed ethical standards for our representatives in power.
The House has already passed this bill (twice) and President Biden is ready to sign it.
Tell your senators to get it done.
