Tell Congress to support the PWFA.

Friend –

We've been saying it, and we'll continue to say it: No one should have to choose between a healthy pregnancy and their job.

The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) is a common-sense bill that can ensure no one has to make that choice – by providing pregnant workers with long-overdue protections. Last week, it was introduced in the Senate with bipartisan support and the House just announced it will vote on it next week to mark the week of Mother's Day.

All of this tells us that we must keep pushing for this bill and you can play a key role: Send a message to your Members of Congress and urge them to support the PWFA.

Even in 2021, too many pregnant workers, especially those in physically demanding jobs, low-wage workers, and people of color, are pushed out of their jobs because employers refuse to provide temporary accommodations.

People are losing income for their families when all that's needed is a job modification – sometimes as simple as a chair to sit on. The PWFA tackles this head-on: requiring employers to provide reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers and protecting them from being fired or forced on leave if they request job modifications.

ACLU Supporter, our ACLU community has been doing so much to advocate for the PWFA over the past weeks and months – let's keep going. The more Congress hears from constituents like you, the greater our chances of success. So please send your message today.
