Dear John,

My friend Jumaane Williams is turning 45 next week, and I’m reaching out to invite you to join me in celebrating him.

Jumaane is a relentless advocate for justice. We first met when we both worked in housing advocacy, and going back even before we served together in the City Council beginning in 2009, I knew that he was the kind of person you wanted to fight alongside -- not against.

Jumaane sees the inequities in our society clearly and never stops fighting for a better city and community. I’ve been proud to partner together with him on campaigns for racial and economic justice, and looking forward to the fights ahead to ensure our city’s recovery is one that centers communities who have faced the most loss and the least support

He is exactly the kind of person New Yorkers need as our Public Advocate, and that’s why I’m excited to support his re-election campaign (and honored to have his endorsement in our race for Comptroller).
