Dear Friend,
Helping North Texans get the benefits they have earned is one of the most important parts of my job. It is not often that I get the chance to give back to a World War II veteran though. I was eager to help when I heard that Mr. Ed Malouf, a local veteran who risked his life serving our country in World War II, and then again in the Korean War, was having trouble getting the benefits he was owed from the VA.
As your Congressman, I can advocate on your behalf if you run into issues with any federal agency. Mr. Malouf’s family reached out to my office after 19 months of trying to recover the medical care benefits he earned after serving in two branches of the military, in two campaigns, and receiving a purple heart.
I am happy to report that since the above news segment was filmed, and after a bit of back and forth with the VA, I was able to help Mr. Malouf recover 100% of the benefits he was owed.
The veterans benefits claims process can be frustrating and confusing, especially for those who served in earlier wars. If you or someone you know could use an advocate in moving your VA case along, please reach out to my office at (972) 972-7949 or start a case online with my constituent advocates.
I am working with Republicans and Democrats in Congress to ease the veterans’ benefits claims process and increase transparency at the VA. Men and women who fought in battle are heroes who deserve priority care and it is an honor to serve all those who served. Please contact me if you need help.
Sincerely,
Colin Allred Member of Congress
