Last Thursday, during an Energy and Commerce Subcommittee hearing, Scott delivered an urgent message to the Environmental Protection Agency: We MUST take action to clean up the environmental catastrophe in the Tijuana River.
For decades, millions of gallons of raw sewage have been spilling into our ocean from the Tijuana River. It has only gotten worse over the past few years, and San Diegans are feeling the effects — our precious oceans are polluted with human and chemical waste and south San Diego County beaches experience frequent and prolonged closures.

Because of Scott’s call to action, EPA Administrator Michael Regan has now committed to visiting the Tijuana River and making this issue a priority for the EPA.
If we’re going to get serious about fighting the harmful effects of climate change, we need to act now and create smarter, more innovative ways to reduce human effects on our environment. That’s why Scott will continue to address the ongoing wastewater crisis that affects not only our border communities, but the ecological landscape of the Tijuana River Valley.
