Friend,
The movement to #CancelStudentDebt is growing in numbers — but we still need your help to pressure the White House to take action.
President Joe Biden has yet to make a final decision on Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren’s proposal to eliminate $50,000 of federal student loan debt via executive order.
That’s why we’re collecting personal stories to show President Biden what’s at stake in this moment. If the administration hears from enough of us, I’m hopeful they’ll do the right thing.
Everyone has a story to tell. Even if you’ve already paid off your debt or you aren’t a borrower yourself, we all benefit from eliminating debt for millions of people. The odds are that you or someone you care about is one of the 45 million Americans with the burden of student loan debt.
Act now: Submit your story about how you’re impacted by the student debt crisis in the United States.
At a time when many working families are struggling to stay afloat, President Biden has a historic opportunity to provide immediate relief to millions of people who desperately need it.
Cancelling debt is just one step in a broader push to make a quality education attainable for everyone, but this is one of the most significant executive actions the president can take that would instantly improve people’s lives.
Without the overwhelming burden of debt, everyday people in the United States can instead use that money to pay for food or health care, buy a house, and start a family.
Disparities in the higher education system extend to student loans too. Black and brown Americans and women disproportionately hold student debt, so loan forgiveness is a critical step toward closing the racial and gender wealth gaps in the United States.
By sharing your story, you can help inspire others to take action and convince the White House to take our demands seriously.
Write your personal story: Tell us how your life would change if President Biden canceled student debt by executive order.
Thank you,
