John,
The last year has made it clear that we need bold solutions to address the overlapping crises of our time. Rampant inequality, a militarized federal budget, and a foreign policy that still depends on drone attacks and hundreds of overseas bases have no place in our future.
This spring, IPS needs your help to win a better future. [[link removed]]
That’s why we’re working with our allies to expose the ways our current laws funnel billions of dollars away from the needs of real people like you and me. From billionaires hoarding wealth amid a global pandemic, to a misaligned federal budget, our experts know that we can do better. Here’s some of what we’re working on in 2021:
Global Inequality
Through our cutting-edge research on pandemic profiteering, the growing billionaire class, the racial wealth divide, and the widening CEO-worker pay gap, IPS is shifting the narrative around the problem of extreme inequality. We are also building momentum behind bold, transformative solutions, including tax proposals that would generate massive revenue while reining in CEO pay, disrupting wealth dynasties, discouraging reckless Wall Street speculation, and ending corporate tax dodging.
IPS is also taking the lead in drafting a People's Postal Agenda that lays out a positive alternative to the Postmaster General's plan to further slow postal deliveries and slash good jobs. The People's Postal Agenda, which will be launched by a broad-based coalition, focuses on leveraging our postal network to meet unmet social and environmental needs, from affordable financial services and rural broadband to electric vehicle charging stations.

New Internationalism
Transforming the U.S relationship with Iran from one built on sanctions and the threat of war to one built on diplomacy was never going to be easy. But the work we’ve done with so many of our allies and partners to push the Biden administration to return to the Iran nuclear deal, while still far from certain, is closer to success than ever before. And with the political deadline of Iran’s elections looming, the urgency is strong and the possibility of a real victory of diplomacy over war is a definite possibility in the next couple of months.
Furthermore, for decades U.S. military aid to Israel ($3.8 billion every year in recent times, to be used for whatever the Israeli military wants) has been an unchallengeable reality. But in the last couple of elections, we’ve been working with new members of Congress who hold the once-impossible view that Israel shouldn’t be an exception, but should be treated like every other country. One result is that inside Congress we are now hearing discussion of conditioning military aid on Israeli compliance with longstanding international and U.S. human rights laws and regulations – and hoping that soon that will become reality before too long.
John, will you support this critical work today? [[link removed]]
As we move into the rest of 2021, IPS is thrilled to bring bold voices to the center of today’s most important discussions. We’re doing everything we can to make sure that today’s best ideas become tomorrow’s decisive action.
The best way you can support this work is by giving to IPS today. [[link removed]] We’ve set a goal to raise $20,000 this spring so we can expand our critical work with movement allies. Your gift today ensures that we can operate quickly and decisively in moments of political crisis; it gives us the flexibility to choose our work and the independence to ensure its quality.
This year, we have the best chance to make meaningful change that the progressive movement has seen in years. We have you, and millions of others working toward a better world, to thank for that.
Onward,
