It's been almost a year since historic Black-led uprisings changed the landscape of what’s possible, when calls for abolition and to defund the police gained unprecedented traction, and our chapters, organizations, and movements grew exponentially.  Many of you met the demands of the moment in many ways, including by meeting the Movement for Black Lives’ call to fund Black-led movements like we want them to win.

But the need to boldly redistribute doesn’t end when the news cycle moves on.  While billionaires continue to get richer, the COVID19 pandemic lays bare global inequality, state-sanctioned white supremacist violence steals lives, and so many in our communities lack access to healthcare, housing, and safety.

Redistributing the resources we have access to and organizing others to do the same is one critical way we show up for our communities and our movements.  Our community of young people with access to wealth and/or class privilege is on track to redistribute $100 million to social justice movements this year, but it’s going to take all of us to get there. Last year, we collectively pledged $68 million to social justice movements-- can you help us reach that same amount by the end of June?  As we launch our annual Spring Redistribution Pledge and Membership drive, we invite you to a series of events to help you skill up and show up for wealth redistribution.  All events start at 7pm EST/4pm PST.

• Join us on Tuesday May 11th to hear personal stories from RG member leaders and alumni who have redistributed wealth, land, and power in a variety of ways, and how wealthy folks can use the recently launched Redistribution Pledge as a tool for both personal and collective accountability.   RSVP here

• The following week, on Tuesday May 18th, we invite you to a Transformative Fundraising training. This is our first ever fundraising training incorporating the recently launched Transformative Investment Principles-- you don’t want to miss it. RSVP here

• If you aren’t sure where to begin with making your own redistribution plan or want to talk it through in community, come get to work on your Redistribution Pledge with us on Wednesday May 26th. We will spend time in BIPOC and white anti racist caucuses discussing how we get started and how we level up our redistribution. RSVP here

• Because we understand that voluntary redistribution must always be in service of involuntary redistribution in order for us to build the world we need, our campaign partners at the Center for Popular Democracy will be joining us to talk about how they are building power to win on issues from housing to immigration to labor and more on Wednesday June 2nd.  RSVP here
