Dear John, If you’re a mom or mothering person to an LGBTQ+ child, I want to thank you -- for all that you do, every day, to make the world a better, fairer, and safer place. I’m a proud PFLAG mom to a gay son, and just like you, I would do anything to protect my kid from harm. That’s why, this Mother’s Day, all I want is one thing: Full equality for my child, with passage of the Equality Act. In honor of Mother’s Day, and all the PFLAG moms and mothering people fiercely protecting their LGBTQ+ kids, please consider a meaningful gift to PFLAG National today. Since the Equality Act was introduced in Congress, PFLAG moms and families have been working closely with the PFLAG National staff to share their stories with legislators about their LGBTQ+ kids and how the Equality Act would make a difference in their lives. As we speak, LGBTQ+ kids in nearly 30 states across the country lack the protections they deserve to live a life free of discrimination. That’s why we’re mobilizing all PFLAG moms and mothering people to tell Congress: It’s time to pass the Equality Act now. Thousands of moms are ready to give their all to fight for their LGBTQ+ kids. With your gift, PFLAG National will be there to provide the tools, resources, and staff support to help lift their voices and share their stories -- stories that we know will change hearts and minds. Help save lives with a Mother’s Day gift to PFLAG National today -- and together with moms, parents, LGBTQ+ people, and allies everywhere -- we will fight for passage of the Equality Act and guarantee protections for our LGBTQ+ loved ones. Happy (early) Mother’s Day to all the great PFLAG moms out there -- because when it comes to protecting our children, moms never back down. With thanks, Kathy Godwin (she/her) President, PFLAG National P.S. Thank you for your support of PFLAG National. If you’re a mom, grandmother, aunt, sister, or mothering person to an LGBTQ+ person, you can also take action by signing our letter telling all of our U.S. Senators that what we want for Mother’s Day is equality for our LGBTQ+ kids. Please sign — and ask the other mothering people you know to do that same. |
