Tomorrow, after 16 years of leading Animal Outlook we say thank you and farewell to Erica Meier.
In 2005, Erica became our executive director, after five years of volunteering with the organization, then known as Compassion Over Killing. From having only three staff members and a shoestring budget, Erica has grown Animal Outlook into the national force for farmed animals it is today.
Under Erica’s leadership, we have conducted hard-hitting investigations, celebrated groundbreaking legal wins, convinced dozens of corporations to add vegan options, and empowered others through outreach activities and events. Our accomplishments with Erica’s guidance are too many to list here, but you can watch the short video below, which highlights just some of Animal Outlook’s achievements with Erica at the helm.
Erica has inspired many and we will miss her. I do know, however, that she will continue to do great things and work tirelessly to better the world. I am incredibly grateful and appreciative for what Erica has meant to this organization, the movement, the animals and for me personally over the years. Erica has earned her place in the history of the animal protection movement, and I invite you to join me in celebrating Erica and thanking her for her dedication, intelligence and compassion.
As we enter the next era for Animal Outlook, my hope is that each of you will join me and consider yourselves a vital member of the Animal Outlook community, contributing to our vision of realizing a compassionate food system, untethered from animals, that empowers people to live their values.
Thank you for joining me in working today for a better tomorrow for all animals.
With gratitude,
Cheryl Leahy
Executive Director
