The National Equity Atlas, produced through a partnership between PolicyLink and the USC Equity Research Institute, is America’s most detailed report card on racial and economic equity. Today, we are thrilled to announce the latest innovation of the Atlas: the Racial Equity Data Lab. The Lab is a space where you can build custom Atlas-powered data visualizations — from maps to fact sheets to interactive data dashboards. Check out coverage of the launch in Reuters.
In partnership with the Tableau Foundation, we created the Lab to equip grassroots leaders with new data tools to power their equity campaigns. When community leaders can combine their firsthand knowledge of equity issues with the population-level data provided by the Atlas, they become stronger champions for policies that serve their communities and advance racial equity.
The Lab has everything you need to tell your community’s equity story: ready-to-use Atlas datasets, data visualization basics, and a step-by-step guide to get you started. Please join us today at 12 pm PT / 3 pm ET for an introductory webinar to hear more about the Lab, how we’re using it to support equity campaigns, and how you can create custom data visualizations for your community.
Over the next six weeks we will host a three-part webinar series to walk you through creating your own $15/hour fact sheet in the Lab, from accessing the data to publishing a custom visualization that you can download, share, and use to advance equitable recovery strategies in your community.
