Dear John,

Minnesotans, Americans, and the global community have faced multiple crises over the past year, and it truly feels like we are at a turning point. Our friends at GiveMN are hosting a giving event to help Minnesota nonprofits, including Fresh Energy ([link removed]) , spring forward into more hopeful times.

Fresh Energy is working hard to ensure that we come out on the other side of this time of challenge more resilient, educated, and empowered to make equitable change in the world and right here at home.

It is clearer than ever that we must recognize the intersecting issues at the root of achieving a more just, resilient future. The transition to clean energy can and must reduce racial and economic disparities in our society and it is vital that we ensure everyone benefits from Minnesota’s healthy air, clean water, and growing clean energy economy.

John, together, we will continue helping Minnesota take bold climate action in ways that benefit everyone who lives here. With your support, we can:
* Ensure clean energy can play a role in community recovery and economic development with our ongoing work at the legislative and agency levels.
* Lock in near-term closure dates for all coal plants within Minnesota state lines and begin setting our sights on securing retirement commitments for all coal plants in the Midwest that serve Minnesota customers.
* Drive progress at the Public Utilities Commission, building the case for transmission, distribution, storage, and resiliency investments to prepare our electric grid for the transition to a reliable, zero-carbon future that keeps costs low for customers.
* Tackle greenhouse gas emissions from the buildings sector by advocating for more robust energy efficiency programs, especially those serving under-resourced customers, and pushing for major advancements in Minnesota’s energy code for new construction.
* Defend Clean Cars Minnesota from political attacks in partnership with a strong coalition of Minnesota clean energy and climate nonprofits. This vital administrative action will dramatically increase the number of types of electric cars available in Minnesota. Through our own expert testimony and new online tool to help the public take action ([link removed]) , we are actively working to ensure a strong final rule and block attempts by industry groups and politicians to play political games with this critical policy.

When you give to Fresh Energy today through May 11 ([link removed]) , you could help us win a bonus grant valued at $250 - $1,000!

With a federal government that recognizes clean energy’s role in rebuilding the economy and combating climate change, Minnesota is positioned to advance equitable progress. Fresh Energy is here to ensure we rise to the challenge together.

We can’t slow down now. With our inspired new Strategic Framework, bold board leadership, and growing team of expert staff, we’re ready for what’s next—but we need your support.

P.S. Decarbonizing buildings is essential in order for Minnesota to reach its climate goals. Updated building codes and heat pumps are part of the puzzle. Read more in Saturday's Star Tribune ([link removed]) .

P.P.S. We apologize if your gift and this email have crossed paths—we are grateful for your support!
