John,
Just before Donald Trump left office in January, he took the unusual step of extending Secret Service protection for his family and three top appointees for an additional six months.
Now we’re finding out just how expensive that was. In just the first 30 days after Trump left office, his children’s travel cost taxpayers over $140,000. And that doesn’t even include the taxpayer money that went into his own pocket! The Secret Service did not include receipts for visits to Trump properties in Bedminster, Palm Beach, and Briarcliff, New York, even though members of the Trump family made multiple visits to those properties. Read CREW’s full investigation here.
Trump managed to turn the presidency into a profit-making venture, with his and his family’s many trips to Trump properties funneling millions in taxpayer dollars straight to his bottom line. Even after leaving office, he’s apparently managed to continue the grift—and that’s why we’ll keep pushing for answers.
We can’t put the Trump family’s profiteering in the past until they’ve finally stopped their corruption and we’ve gotten a full accounting.
Thank you,
The CREW Team
