Friend, workers' rights in this country have been under a steady, coordinated attack for decades.
As a result, it's remarkably difficult for many workers to organize, advocate for themselves and earn the wages they deserve. It's simply not right – and with Democrats in control of the Senate, it's time to change this.
I grew up in a union household: My mom was a nurse's aide and union steward with SEIU - and my dad was a high school teacher and a proud NEA member for over 30 years. I saw firsthand how being in a union empowered them and helped them empower others around them. And throughout my time in public service, I've spoken with countless Michiganders who've experienced the same.
That's why I'm a proud cosponsor of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. Because across the country, conservative legislators beholden to corporations have made it harder for workers to organize. Action from Congress is long overdue, and the PRO Act will strengthen the rights of workers to join together and negotiate – leading to fairer wages, better benefits and safer working conditions.
But this bill faces a steep upward climb in the Senate, so I'm counting on grassroots advocacy from this team to help get it passed. I'm hoping to drive 2,500 responses before 11:59 p.m. tonight, so please, speak out now:
Do you support workers' rights to organize and unionize?

Thanks for speaking out.
