A NOTE FROM CHRISSY

It's been a busy April!

I've been working hard in Congress to make progress on the issues impacting our Commonwealth, and I was so grateful to speak with President Biden’s administration at the White House about those issues – crushing this virus; getting people safely back to work; creating new, good-paying jobs for Pennsylvanians; and increasing access to quality, affordable health care.

This month is packed with lots of updates, so I want to loop you in on the most important ones:

PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER
Chester is now the most vaccinated county in Pennsylvania
When people in my community were struggling to access the vaccine, I took immediate action and wrote to Governor Wolf urging him to increase the supply and rate of distribution. I pressed the Biden administration for mass vaccination sites here in SEPA to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible. Today, Chester County is the most vaccinated county in all of Pennsylvania. That’s tremendous progress! And we are still working on getting more shots in arms across all of the 6th, Pennsylvania, and beyond.

DAILY LOCAL NEWS
Houlahan Hosts Town Hall to Combat Gun Violence In American Society
In communities across Pennsylvania and across the country, gun violence is a tragic daily reality. It isn’t a Democrat or Republican issue; it’s an American issue that we as a Congress must address. We need to take comprehensive action to put a stop to it, and we need to do it now. That's why I hosted a public virtual town hall to discuss this urgent issue. We’ve now passed two historic bills that are sitting on the Senate’s doorstep. It’s time our senators find their courage and do their job.

FINANCIAL REGULATION NEWS
Reps. Hill, Houlahan introduce bill to help small businesses
The Paycheck Protection Program has been a lifeline for small businesses struggling during the pandemic. But many small businesses are at a disadvantage because they do not follow strict quarterly cycles, making it harder for them to secure these desperately needed funds. This legislation would fix that by adjusting the eligibility calculation to 90 consecutive days.
Our economy won't recover from the pandemic until our small businesses recover – so we've got to pass this bill.

KTVN NEWS
Bipartisan Legislation Wants to Help Workers Transition to STEM Jobs Through 'Returnships'
This pandemic has shown us just how important STEM jobs are. That’s why Rep. Jim Baird (R-IN) and I introduced the bipartisan STEM RESTART Act to help – which will help small businesses offer workforce development opportunities for folks returning or transitioning to STEM fields. Many people in STEM fields have been sidelined and have lost professional ground due to the pandemic and we need them back.

Berks congressional delegation focuses on infrastructure plan at chamber forum
For too long, Pennsylvania's infrastructure has suffered from a systemic lack of investment. It's high time we fixed that. That's why I’m calling on Congress to pass a robust infrastructure plan, which would pave miles of new roads, repair crumbling bridges, and create millions of jobs.

WFMZ NEWS
Chrissy Houlahan seeks to step up fight against the spotted lanternfly
These invasive pests are expected to return to Pennsylvania this month. They harm agriculture industries like vineyards and breweries, costing our state hundreds of millions of dollars each year in addition to nearly 3,000 jobs. I'm calling on Congress to grant us the funding we need to eradicate the lanternfly.

That's all for now. I'll keep you updated on any other important updates as I continue to do whatever it takes to make a difference for your family and our community.
In the meantime, I set aside time every week to call back constituents who have contacted us, so please don't hesitate to reach out to my office! It's always so helpful to hear directly from you about what's on your mind.
There is work to be done!
– Chrissy

While Chrissy is focused on delivering progress in the House, fundraising is the last thing on her mind. But the GOP is already eyeing our critical battleground district, and we have to begin building up our resources right now to make sure she can defend this must-win Democratic seat in 2022 – so we're asking for her:

Will you make a donation to help reelect Chrissy to Congress? Your support will make such a difference in our work to keep this critical Pennsylvania seat blue and protect our House majority.
